Samaneh Utter is a self-taught artist living in Göteborg, Sweden. As a teenager, Samaneh had a brief introduction to Persian calligraphy and oil painting but she paused these practices to fully focus on her education. She has a profound interest in Persian poems.
“Life has a funny way of helping you out when you think everything’s gone wrong, and everything blows up in your face.“, as Alanis Morissette sang. As an architecture student, Samaneh purchased a box of oil pastels sometime in 2002 from a shop in front of Tehran University. When she moved to Sweden to continue her education in Software Engineering in 2008, somehow unconsciously she also packed that unused box of oil pastels in her luggage. Little did she know that 20 years later, those oil pastels were going to take her on an inner journey where she would peel off the layers of emotions.
Painting with oil pastels, watercolor, acrylic, and oil, as well as reading and calligraphing poems of Hafez and Rumi bring joy to Samaneh that is why she invites you to her world of art.
